Starting today, residents 75 and older can start booking appointments for a COVID-19 vaccine.
That age group is given priority for the second phase of the state’s distribution plan, which starts on Monday.
Governor Charlie Baker says he was informed by the Biden-Harris administration that they would be receiving a boost to the state’s vaccine supply.
“We’re going to plan ahead with assumption that our new sites will be able to deliver over 300,000 doses each week by February,” said Baker.
“At some point we’ll get more guidance from the feds about just what exactly an increase in distribution would mean here in Massachusetts.”
More than 165 sites will be established by mid-February. Mass vaccination sites would include Gillette Stadium and Fenway Park. Marshfield is finalizing plans for vaccine distribution at the Fairgrounds, which could be inclusive to nearby towns if possible.
Officials in Cohasset and Braintree are planning clinics, with more South Shore towns expected to finalize plans.
Residents can sign up using a map on Mass.Gov/COVIDVaccine.
Baker says there is some difficulty booking appointments given the current limited supply. People can keep checking the website as more sites open.
“In the meantime, we would certainly urge family members and friends to help support older residents, help them book their appointments through that website if you can get that done for them,” said Baker. “This will not only be incredibly helpful to your loved ones, but it will also help older residents secure appointments when they become available.”
Baker says additional resources will be available to help seniors book appointments through state and private partnerships.
