Due to rising COVID-19 cases, the Marshfield Board of Selectmen voted to temporarily close access to town buildings for two weeks. This is effective today.
Town Administrator Michael Maresco says this includes Town Hall, the Library, Senior Center, and the Recreation Department.
“There have been 219 cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Marshfield since Christmas eve,” said Maresco. “As folks know that have children, schools are closed for the next two weeks. School sports have been stopped for two weeks.”
The Selectmen held an emergency meeting Wednesday to discuss and vote on the closure. Maresco says services will still be provided online and at Town Hall through the first-floor windows.
“We ask residents as you come up to pay your bills, as you come up to the Building Department, the Clerk, the Assessors, you must be wearing your mask. It’s important that people social distance and wear their mask.” said Maresco. “The Senior Center has been closed to the public, inside their building they will continue to provide Meals on Wheels. The Library will be shut to the public but will continue to provide book drop-off and book pick-up.”
