In Plymouth, the 26th annual Rotary Club Auction will soon be in full swing, but this year with a different pandemic-propelled twist.
Bobbi Clark has more:
Dr. Gary Maestas, is Vice Chair of the Rotary Club, and a familiar face in town, having spent the past twenty years guiding the Plymouth Public Schools—and for the last dozen of those years, as Superintendent –until he retired last year.
“Plymouth is near and dear to my heart. I’ve spent so much time here and the connections that I have fostered over the years just keep me grounded to Plymouth.”
Being grounded to Plymouth now means helping with the annual Rotary auction, which this year, instead being a weekend televised bidding-war on PACTV, will be online, starting March 1st…
“…it’ll go all the way to March 14th. On March 14th, from 2 o’clock to 8, we’re going to have a production, a show, high-lighting some of the items that are up for auction and just talking about what Rotary does for the community, and what our goal is as we raise money to enhance the lives of people here in the surrounding area.”
And in the surrounding area, restaurants have been hit hard by pandemic caused restrictions.
“One of our big push-points this year is really trying to help supplement restaurants, and give them some kind of business. So, our effort this year is to try to get a lot of certificates purchased, so that we can get people into restaurants when they’re able—just to try get that economy boosted here in Plymouth.”
