Robert Wargo has been named the new Superintendent of the Weymouth Public Schools.
The School Committee selected Wargo with a unanimous vote during a special meeting on Saturday.
Interim Superintendent Kathleen Smith says the selection came after a preliminary screening committee of 17 members vetted over thirty candidates.
Wargo was previously the Principal at Scituate High School and at King Philip High School.
There will be a transition period where he will work with Interim Superintendent Smith before Wargo assumes his new position this summer, pending contract negotiations.
