In Plymouth, healthcare workers received a big ‘thank you’ in the form of gift boxes of food during a drive through at the library on Friday. Bobbi Clark caught up with the group in the library parking lot.
This effort was accomplished through a partnership with State Senator Susan Moran and State Representatives Matt Muratore, Kathy LaNatra, Steven Xiarhos, and the Cape Cod Military Support Foundation. All of them were on hand to help with the food delivery. Senator Moran has high praise for the health care workers:
“The folks that we are saying thank you to today, with this effort, are the unsung heroes who care for the most vulnerable,” said Moran. “These are folks working in Plymouth who are with long-term care facilities, with nursing home facilities—and they’re putting themselves in harms way to do their jobs and care for our loved ones.”
Don Cox of the Military Support Foundation says the boxes of fresh food and pastries are not the first his group has distributed.
“A year ago Monday, we started this campaign—that was five hundred and fifty-eight thousand boxes ago—and forty-two million pounds of food,” said Cox.
And in her car in line at the drive-thru, Jessica, a support associate at Laurel Wood at the Pine Hills, had this to say:
“Oh, I feel awesome, I think this is really positive and can surely lift our spirits. This is a nice treat.”
Not far behind in his car at the drive-thru, Joshua, a chef at Benchmark Senior Living, agreed:
“I think it’s a great thing that they’ve done and it’s very nice of them to go out of their way to do this for us.”
