The Carver Fire Department says there were no serious injuries after a motor vehicle struck a camper.
Deputy Chief Eric Germaine says they received a 9-1-1 call at 9:36 Monday morning at 170 High Street.
“Carver PD showed up on scene first and requested a response from us, due to a 20-pound propane cylinder, similar to the size you’d find on a normal grill,” said Germaine. “It had come loose from the camper and was underneath the motor vehicle.”
Germaine says an air bag lifting system was used from a rescue truck to lift the vehicle off the propane tank.
“The system that we use to physically lift the vehicle, they’re big rubberized air bags. They have a texture to them so we can stack more than one on top of another,” said Germaine. “We have a control station which is comprised of handles and valves that use the same type of air cylinder that we use in our air packs.”
He says it took about 10 minutes to set up and lift the vehicle up.
The man in the vehicle was evaluated by Carver EMS, but refused treatment at the scene.
