Officials say they have found the body of a man who disappeared in the waters of Hull Thursday night while trying to avoid first responders investigating a disturbance call.

Police Chief John Dunn reports that Massachusetts State Police Dive Teams recovered the body of 41-year-old Jeffrey Lilja approximately 200 feet off shore following sonar scans by a Massachusetts Environmental Police Crew.

The search began shortly after 11:30 p.m. Thursday and had continued every morning since.

Dunn says Lilja’s body was located at approximately 3 p.m. Sunday and was positively identified.

His family was then notified.

Hull Fire, the State Police Air Wing, and the United States Coast Guard also participated during the search and recovery operations.
