A man wanted in connection to a homicide in Brockton was fatally shot by police in Tennessee.

Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz says state and Brockton Police have been looking for 32-year-old Marvin Veiga since a shooting in October of 2020.

Veiga and co-defendant 29-year-old Takari Elliot are accused of fatally shooting 25-year-old Manuel Duarte. Both men were indicted on murder and gun charges in March. Elliot was located and arrested, but Veiga was not. He was added to the state’s most wanted list.

Early Saturday morning, Veiga was shot and killed in Nashville Tennessee after police say he advanced towards an officer with two large butcher knives. In a video released by Metro Nashville Police, the incident took place after a traffic stop. Veiga exited the passenger side of the vehicle holding two large knives. The officer backed away, ordering him repeatedly to drop the knives. Veiga could be seen trying to enter the officer’s vehicle. He charged at the officer and was shot.

Elliot has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is being held without bail. A next court appearance was scheduled for May 5th.
