In Plymouth, The Pinehills withdraws Article 22 from the warrant for Town Meeting, which begins Saturday, April 3rd. Article 22 proposed changes to the OSMUD, The Pinehills development plan.
Bobbi Clark has more:
The Pinehills Managing Partner Tony Green explains that Article 22 would have changed OSMUD zoning in two respects:
“It allowed a definition of contiguous to be amended to include, through town-owned open space, which would have made it so that Pine Hills could have added 104 acre parcel to Pine Hills. And then our proposal was to donate that land to the Town of Plymouth with a conservation restriction and an endowment to take care of that land in the future.”
And acceptance of that 104 acres into OSMUD would then allow 104 permits to be built. Article 22 was unanimously approved by FinCom and won Select Board approval on a 3 to 2 vote, but Green says there were comments from Town Meeting members…
“…both privately and publicly that indicated that, primarily on the affordable housing side of things that they would like to see The Pinehills do more and it became clear to us that that was something that we should listen to.”
However, there was also the concern on the part of some that this was only the beginning of a Pinehill’s effort to acquire more building permits, so Pinehills planned a one-and-done amendment to the article:
“So, there was an amendment that was going to come from the floor that would have made this a one-time opportunity, and this would have been the one time, so that the exemption would have been used and done.”
