Trust issues are growing amongst Norwell residents from the Wildcat Lane neighborhood and town officials over the future of 6 acres of land.
That was Norwell Select Board Chair Ellen Allen speaking with Wildcat Neighborhood association member Brian Carrol who says there are some in the community that are losing trust with town officials.
This all stems from a 6-acre parcel that the town voted for back at the 2004 Norwell town meeting to use the land as affordable housing.
Since the vote in ’04, the Wildcat neighborhood went in and residents were not aware the parcel that sits just outside their community was slated for over 20 units, so the group has started a citizen’s petition.
The petition will be heard at this year’s annual town meeting to put the 6 acres back into conservation and keep as open space.
Even if the tax payers vote for the change, the way the article in 2004 was worded still gives the select board the power to do what they see fit for the town.
