Two men were killed after their vehicle rolled over and struck a tree early Friday morning.
The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office says that shortly before 1 a.m. Pembroke Police and Fire crews responded to reports of a crash at 104 Elm St.
The passenger, 23-year-old Joseph Birolini of Hanson, had to be freed from the vehicle, a 2012 Lexus SUV, by using mechanical means.
The driver, identified as 23-year-old William Hickey of Pembroke was located outside the vehicle.
Both men were transported to South Shore Hospital where they were later pronounced dead.
An investigation has determined that the Lexus was traveling on Elm St. when it crossed the opposite lane of travel and left the roadway.
It then stuck a tree and rolled over before coming to a final resting position after striking the utility pole.
The DA’s office says speed and inclement weather may have been factors in the crash but the investigation is still ongoing.
