Whitman Police were joined by several neighboring police departments in escorting a Whitman toddler to the hospital Wednesday.
Nathaniel Rodman, known as “Nate the Great,” was born with heart and kidney defects that required several surgeries, including an open-heart surgery at just five weeks old.
Nathan’s father, Matthew Rodman, served as a Randolph Police officer for more than seven years.
Last week, officers had a badge made for Nathaniel, signifying him as an honorary police officer.
Members of the Quincy, Weymouth, Stoughton, Canton, and Braintree police departments took part in the early morning escort to Boston Children’s Hospital.
Whitman police played a key role in assisting with traffic control and mapping out the best routes to the hospital.
Randolph Police Detective Kevin Gilbert says, “Nathaniel is a fighter, and we are confident he will come out of this surgery in amazing shape.”
