Senator Ed Markey came to Quincy on Monday to promote President Joe Biden’s $2.25 billion infrastructure package, dubbed the American Jobs Plan.
During his visit, the state’s junior senator highlighted the benefits that investments in infrastructure, particularly the MBTA, provides.
Mayor Tom Koch echoed that sentiment saying that public transportation is vital to the city.
Markey also paid a visit to the Hull High School Wind Turbine later that day to highlight the importance of wind energy to the local and national economy.
Senator Ed Markey said these types of projects can address challenges caused by climate change, such as flooding, something he says the town has a great deal of experience with.
Biden’s plan has been facing opposition from Republican senators who expressed reservations with its size and scope.
