The Board of Directors for the Marshfield Agricultural and Horticultural Society unanimously voted to hold the 154th Annual Marshfield Fair.
Lenny LaForest, President of the Marshfield Agricultural and Horticultural Society, said this year’s fair is scheduled for August 20-29.
“We discussed the possibility of having a fair, we checked with all the directors. Each one has a specific section of the fair that they’re responsible for,” said LaForest. “They wanted to know whether or not they could get their people together in time to fulfill their obligations to the fair, whether they thought there was any foreseeable problems in having the fair, and planning on such a limited time schedule.”
LaForest says last year’s 153rd fair was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic – the only time it was cancelled in the fair’s history.
“Thirteen of us are involved and it turned out well. There were a few questions that needed to be answered, but other than that I think everybody agreed,” said LaForest. “It was a unanimous decision to go forward.”
Governor Charlie Baker says the State of Emergency will be lifted on June 15. All remaining COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted on May 29th.
The fairgrounds have been operating as a drive-up vaccination site, and recently surpassed 53,694 doses administered.
