In Plymouth, the Select Board will say goodbye to Zoom meetings. They voted this week to return to in-person meetings.
Bobbi Clark has more:
Selectman Chair Ken Tavares discussed the matter with the Board:
“I believe it’s time that the Plymouth Board of Selectmen have in-person meetings. It’s been fourteen months since we’ve had one, and I certainly think we’re at the point where we’re starting to lose citizen participation. We need to be face-to-face.”
But, Tavares says Zoom has been useful:
“Zoom has served a good purpose, especially in the beginning, otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to meet until people started to get vaccinated.”
The target date for in-person meetings is this summer:
“We have discussed this with PACTV. We have a date of July 12th that we could go live. There’s new equipment being installed, everything will be checked out.”
And there has been an effort on the part of the Committee of Precinct Chairs to return to in-person town meeting:
“I support that—it’s time. Our moderator Steve Tiffletti has done a great job. The precinct chairs have cooperated, town meeting members have cooperated, but we need to get back and look at each other to conduct the town’s business.”
