Starting Wednesday, appointments will not be needed to get a vaccine from the Marshfield fairgrounds vaccination site.
The drive-up site will be expanding to allow for vaccinations for the 13 to 18-year-old age range.
When site first opened in February, the town had set a goal to administer 47,000 COVID-19 vaccines by June.
Town Administrator Michael Maresco says they surpassed 53,694 shots last week – a month ahead of the target.
“It’s up and down, we’re not as busy as we used to be,” said Maresco. “I’m happy to report that on Wednesday, from close to open we start drive-thru without appointment. If you don’t have an appointment and want to get a shot, we have computer people who can take your information, we have a dedicated lane for that.”
Appointments can be scheduled by calling 2-1-1, searching on VaxFinder.Mass.Gov, or on Wednesday, by simply driving up to the site.
Maresco says operations at the site could wrap up by the end of June.
