Braintree will hold its Independence Day parade and celebration on Saturday.
Sean Powers, the Chair of the Braintree 4th of July Celebration Committee, says they’re planning one of the largest fireworks displays in the committee’s history.
This year’s budget is $25,000 dollars through private donations.
“People want to acknowledge the resiliency of our community, of our state, and of our country in that we have overcome many difficult challenges this past year with the global pandemic,” said Powers. “We want to let folks know that we’re still here. We made it through it, we’re proud to be Americans, and there’s nothing that we can’t overcome if we work hard enough on it.”
The parade steps off at 11:45 a.m. from the Braintree RMV at 10 Plain Street, and will end at the Hollis School.
Police and fire apparatus, antique cars, and local groups will take part in the parade. The last parade was held in 2019.
Food trucks, live entertainment, and the Braintree Day Block Party will be held at the High School, starting at 4 p.m.
Live music includes the Jake Ash Band from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Draw the Line, an Aerosmith cover band, is the headliner from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The Fireworks are planned to start at 9:30 p.m.
