Two police officers were shot and a K-9 was killed in Braintree.
Braintree Mayor Charles Kokoros released this statement in regards to the incident.
“Early today, Braintree Police responded to a report of a domestic incident in the area of McCusker Drive. The suspect fled into the woods and was subsequently apprehended. Shots were fired and two officers were transported to the hospital. The District Attorney’s Office and Massachusetts State Police will be taking over the investigation.”
The Norfolk Sheriff’s Office released a statement in regards to the shooting of the K-9.
“Our hearts go out to the Braintree Police Department officers injured today and the K-9 partner who died in the line of duty. We wish the injured officers a full and speedy recovery, and we mourn with them the loss of their K-9 partner.”
At this time there is no official word regarding the extent of the injuries to the officers, the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office says the “suspect is dead on scene.”
