The Pembroke Fire Department responded to a wooded area behind the Middle School to help a person whose leg was entangled in a dirt bike.
Fire Chief Ken McCormick says the on-duty crew responded with an off-road vehicle.
“When the call came in, the captain made the decision based upon the call and the location what he was going to take,” said McCormick. “For any type of medical-type of incident like that, we usually take the engine, the squad, and the ambulance. He decided that he would take the ORV, just due to the location down by the water at Silver Lake.”
McCormick said there are paths, but it was a dense wooded area from the back of the Middle School.
The fire department located the male operator of the bike. His leg was entangled in the rear wheel.
“He made the right call, they were able to scoot down there with some crew and some tools,” said McCormick. “They helped the victim out and got from the water to where the ambulance was.”
One person was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
