In Plymouth, the Charter Commission, a group consisting of nine elected members, meets tonight. The group is looking for input from the public concerning their ideas about town government.
Bobbi Clark has more:
Bill Abbott, who chairs the group explains that this is a public hearing:
“The state statute provides for one big public hearing within forty-five days after the election—and this is the hearing tonight.”
The Commission wants to hear about what kind of government people want:
“Some people think town meeting should meet more often—it can’t—only meets twice a year. And some people think we should have a council that meets every week. Some folks like a single person in charge—like a mayor. So it could range anywhere from a mayor to a strong town manager to a city council or a town council—or to a town meeting that’s improved and more efficient.
The Charter Commission meets tonight at town hall at 7. Zoom participation is available, check the town website for details.
