In Plymouth, County Commissioners vote to administer some of the $5.3 billion dollars the state will receive under the American Rescue Plan Act, or ARPA—this at their meeting last Thursday.

Over one hundred million dollars of ARPA funds will be allotted to Plymouth County. Commissioner Jared Valenzola says Commissioners took a vote to receive the funds:
“We voted to authorize the Treasurer to receive these funds. and we will be having an Advisory Board meeting on July 7th to apprise the communities of what we’ve done. And there are a couple of budgetary matters that we need them to vote on as it relates to execution of the program.”
The County includes 27 communities. The Advisory Board consists of representatives of each municipality’s Board of Selectmen, or in the case of Brockton, a City Councilor, appointed by the Mayor.
Commissioner Valenzola has been designated liaison related to administration of ARPA funds:
“I think what we’re hoping to do is create an operation, and build a smooth operation, that is again, at the most efficient and cost effective that it can be for our communities. And, I think that’s why we settled on creating a liaison position both from the County Commissioners’ perspective to the Treasurer’s office as well as to the member communities.”
