The WATD News team was the recipient of a Sigma Delta Chi Award from the Society of Professional Journalists for breaking news coverage during a shooting at the Braintree Plaza on July 3, 2020.
WATD Anchor Dan McCready and reporter Lenny Rowe were honored in the category for Radio Breaking News Reporting (Market 101+).

Winners were announced and recognized during a virtual presentation, which is archived online. CBS News Chief White House Correspondent Nancy Cordes hosted the event.
This is WATD’s first award from the Society of Professional Journalists. Prominent veteran journalists served as judges for the awards, about 90 winners were selected from a field of 1,200 submissions.
