The Friends of the Marshfield Dog Park are hosting a dog-friendly fundraiser Wednesday at the Stellwagen Beer Company to benefit the future park.

Erin Fitzpatrick, Chief Marketing Officer for the Fundraising Committee, said they’re teaming up for a book signing with Jerry Thornton, the author of “Six Rings: The Super Bowl History of the New England Patriots.”

The Friends of the Marshfield Dog Park and Flagship Harbor Advisors are sponsoring the event.

“It’s going to be a really fun time. The event is free to come in, but if you’d like to buy a book, those will be on sale,” said Fitzpatrick. “The money will benefit the dog park.”

“Six Rings,” provides an inside look into the six Super Bowls won by the New England Patriots since 2002. It’s a story on the franchise, culture, and people who made it all happen.

“Our volunteer team will be there if you’d like to come and meet the team and join the team,” said Fitzpatrick. “If you have a business that would like to partner for a fundraiser in the future, absolutely come meet us.”

Fitzpatrick said they’ve held successful fundraisers in the past. They’re excited to resume holding in-person events.

“We’ve had 100 dogs in Stellwagen before, with no biting, no fighting, everyone just hanging out and relaxing,” said Fitzpatrick. “It’s so good for the dogs to be able to hang out and socialize, and for the dogs to be able to go somewhere. The dogs of Marshfield definitely want this park, the people want it. It’s been a challenge to get it, but we’re not giving up.”

The Friends of the Marshfield Dog Park anticipated a fall opening date for the venue on Commerce Way. That has been delayed due to higher-than-expected costs.
