Towns across the South Shore are preparing to celebrate Independence Day.
Bridgewater will hold a parade on July 4th at 10 a.m. The parade will begin on Grove Street, turn onto Summer Street, Dean Street, turn right onto Worcester Street, Right onto Route 18 through the town center, a right at the Lucky Gas Station, and will end on Summer Street. A music and arts festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the fourth at the Bridgewater State University campus. A fireworks display will start that night at 9:30 p.m. at Legion Field.
Duxbury will hold its annual 5K road race at 8 a.m. on July 3rd. At noon, a parade will take place beginning at Hall’s Corner. It will continue down Washington Street, turn onto St. George Street, and then end at Duxbury High School. This year’s theme is “Coming to America.”
Hingham will kick off events with their annual road race starting at 7 a.m. on July 4th. This year’s parade theme is “Heroes Among Us,” honoring frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. A parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Middle and Pleasant Streets near Hingham High School. It will follow Main Street to Hingham Square and end on Station Street around 11:15 a.m..
Plymouth will hold its annual 5K race on July 4th at 7:30 a.m. beginning at Stephen’s Field. On July 5th, the town will hold a fireworks display over the harbor at 9:15 p.m.
In Quincy, the July 4th Squantum parade will begin at 10 a.m. from the First Church of Squantum and ends at the Squantum School on Huckins Ave. The Merrymount parade will start at 1 p.m. at the elementary school and will end at Merrymount Beach at 2 p.m. The Bay Pointe Waterfront Restaurant at 64 Washington Court will host a fireworks event, starting at 9:15 p.m. Suggested viewing sites with parking are at the Broad Meadows School on 50 Calvin Road and the Snug Harbor School at 333 Palmer Street.
Randolph will hold a free concert by The Randolph Community Band from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Williams Gazebo on North Street on July 2nd.
