The Marshfield Police Department is officially free from Facebook jail.
Marshfield Police Lieutenant Artie Shaw said Facebook revoked their ability to post while the company verifies the social media page.
“We had an issue with our verification and validation on our Marshfield Police page,” said Shaw. “Apparently it had something to do with hitting a certain number. At that point, they have to verify our page is actually who we say we are.”
Shaw said recent changes in Facebook’s policy triggered the process.
“It’s still ongoing. We are able to fully post, but the verification process has not been completed yet,” said Shaw.
He said the Braintree Police Department helped post information on Marshfield’s behalf. Braintree has a large following, which led to a Facebook employee reaching out to help.
“We’ve had a lot of help with some people in Facebook, workers at Facebook, and Detective [Todd] Goodwin’s worked a lot on this to get this back up and going,” said Shaw. “He was able to get us to fully post now.”
Shaw said the Marshfield Police Department relies on their Facebook page to deliver important information to the community.
