In Plymouth, the town’s Parking & Traffic Task Force will present a proposal to the Select Board on Tuesday to address parking concerns on Clyfton Street — a street off of Court Street in downtown Plymouth.
WATD’s Bobbi Clark files this report:
The Parking & Traffic Task Force consists of six people; Tiffany Park represents the Town Manager’s office.
“The Parking & Traffic Task force is comprised of representatives from the Plymouth Police Department, Fire Department, the engineering office of the Department of Public Works, the highway division of the Department of Public Works, and Park Plymouth,” said Park.
The Task Force has been receiving complaints about parking on Clyfton Street.
“We’ve had complaints from residents, residents not only of Clyfton Street, but also residents in the downtown area, of parking congestion and also the narrowing of the roadway corridor on Clyfton Street,” said Park.
Has the Task Force met with Clyfton Street residents?
“We have not, but we have solicited, on two different occasions, public comment from the residents, and they have been invited to attend the Select Board meeting so that they can participate in the discussion with the Select Board,” said Park.
What measures are being considered to alleviate congestion on the street?
“One would be to eliminate parking on one side of the street, the other would be to make the street one-way,” said Park. “We’d rather take a first step approach by simply delineating where parking can and can’t occur.”
The Select Board meeting on Tuesday is at Town Hall at 6 p.m.
