In Plymouth, retired former Superintendent of Schools Dr. Gary Maestas could be taking charge as interim superintendent of schools in Hingham.
Bobbi Clark has more:
The Hingham School Committee unanimously voted to offer the one-year position of interim superintendent to Dr. Maestas, this according to the Boston Globe.
Having retired last year, Maestas spent the better part of the last twenty years guiding the Plymouth Public Schools, the last dozen years as superintendent.
The Hingham School Committee was unanimous in its vote to offer Dr. Maestas the job of interim superintendent. He would take over from Paul Austin, who resigns as of July 31st to become director of special education at a regional school north of Bangor, Maine.
Plymouth has a student population of over 7300 students; Hingham has about 4300 students. Kerry Ni, School Committee Chair said Maestas experience in a large district was key to the decision in the vote for him.
