As the law currently stands, if a police canine (k-9) is injured in the line of duty, it is illegal for EMS personnel to care for them or transport them to the animal hospital.

Nero’s Law, if passed, would change all that

Rep. Steve Xiarhos, of the 5th Barnstable District, was a Deputy Police Chief in Yarmouth, the day Officer Sean Gannon was shot and killed, and his k-9 Nero, was also shot and seriously wounded.

Rep Xiarhos spoke with Christine James about why this bill needs to get passed.
