In Plymouth, there is a special election in less than two weeks due to the sudden resignation of former Select Board member Shelagh Joyce.

Town Clerk Pearl Sears has some good news for voters who want to vote early.
“The temporary voting laws that expired on June 30th were just renewed,” said Sears. “They’ve been extended until December 15th.”
For those voters who want to vote early by mail, what do they need to do?
“They need to do an application; they need to do it very quickly,” said Sears. “The deadline is going to be August 9th at 5 p.m. to apply for a mail out ballot.”
The vote by mail application is only available on the Town Clerk’s webpage.
“If you print that out, fill it out, sign it, you can email it to us, you can drop it in my ballot box,” said Sears. “You can fax it to us, mail it to us, drop it off in person. Get that application to us as fast as possible.”
Sears says the ballot has four candidates.
“It is only for Select Board — that is the only race on the ballot: Steven Bolotin, Charles Bletzer, Scott Vecchi, and Vedna Heywood will be in the ballot,” said Sears. “Scott Vecchi has withdrawn, unofficially from the race. He does appear on the ballot, but has withdrawn from the race.”
What’s the best guess for voter turn-out?
“It’s a complete guess. We haven’t had a special election for Select Board since 1993 It is the middle of summer—everybody’s on vacation,” said Sears. “I’m guessing, maybe 8 or 9%.”
Election day is August 14th, polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
