A not guilty plea was entered Thursday by a Mattapan man facing a murder charge.
The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office says that 41-year-old Akil Jackson pleaded not guilty in Brockton District Court to two counts of Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, and one count each of Firearm Violation with Two Prior Violent/Drug Crimes, Carrying a Firearm Without A License, Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Second Offense, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card, Receiving Stolen Property, and Violation of an Abuse Prevention Order.
The charges stem from an incident on Wednesday where West Bridgewater Police received a call from a victim advocate who said that a restraining order was being violated.
Officers encountered Jackson at 750 West Center St. and when they approached he began to quickly walk away.
Jackson was seen entering a blue Toyota Camry and when officers approached they saw him reach for a handgun.
The DA’s office says he was told to drop the gun, refused, and turned it toward himself.
Officers intervened and placed him under arrest.
Following that arraignment Jackson was scheduled to be transported to Boston Municipal Court in West Roxbury for arraignment for a murder charge in Suffolk County.
