Say hello to Brady! This young, very high energy Labrador Retriever mix has been waiting a very long time for a home. He is seeking a foster or adoptive home, a place to go after the completion of a positive reinforcement training program — he worked so hard at training and the team at Scituate Animal Shelter is so proud of him!
Although he has work to do, it is hard to believe Brady hasn’t found the right home yet.
Brady is about 4-years-old with the energy of a pup! He would love someone who loves running the beach, hikes or anything fun outside!
Brady just completed a positive reinforcement training program, focused on teaching him more appropriate behavior around other dogs both off leash and on leash. He doesn’t have a lot of experience with other dogs and can be too overwhelming for other dogs at first. He is also learning some manners and more appropriate ways to greet people (other than jumping up!) We are looking for a home, foster or adoptive, to be up for continued training and socialization. He would do best as an only pet right now.
Brady is likely going to do best in an adult only home, as he is still working on his jumping up behavior but we would be open to a home with older teens. He would love to be someone’s hiking buddy and loves to go on adventure walks! Brady uses a front connect harness and walks well, but he is also getting acclimated to a head halter to help with some of his over-excited behavior.
Brady is a chewer and would need very tough toys! He also needs to be crated when no one is home. He loves to chew on socks!
Brady is an overall great dog. He does need continued training and is not for someone who prefers a couch buddy. We know Brady is going to be a great dog one day; if you’re up for the task of helping him reach his full potential please email dog trainer Janice directly at janicegifford@scituateanimalshelter.org.
Adoptions are by appointment only. For more information on Brady or other pets email adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org.
All dogs are fixed, vaccinated, dewormed, flea treated and heartworm/lyme tested before adoption. Adoption fees are $360 for a dog, $460 for a puppy, and $250 for a dog with special needs or senior over 10 years old.
