Numerous groups are planning a rally and march in Plymouth to demand the closure of the Plymouth County Correctional Facility.
The FANG Collective from Rhode Island – (Fighting Against Natural Gas) is among the groups taking part.
Arely Diaz is one of the organizers.
She says the groups are against incarceration and detention, but they’re starting with the closure of the ICE detention center in Plymouth. Since they started in 2018, they said Sheriff Joe McDonald does not want to address their concerns.
McDonald disagrees with that.
The event takes place tonight 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., starting at the Plymouth Rock to the County Correctional Facility. A speaking portion is expected to take place at 7:30 p.m.
