In Plymouth, Town Manager Melissa Arrighi, is about ten months away from stepping down as Plymouth’s top executive and she has set goals for what she would like to accomplish before then.
Bobbi Clark has more….
The Town Manager has a list of priorities:
“A final plan for Stephens Field is at the top of my list. I’d like to make some improvements to Brewster Gardens. I think it’s a shame that the stairs don’t go down like they used to—people need access from Main Street and Main Street Extension. I’d like to bring back Water Street promenade in some fashion and look for some potential funding for that.”
Also, Arrighi says she’d like to get started…
“…on real terms for a DPW administration building. The town is putting so much money into public works that I think that we need to be able to house these people appropriately—the staff members and the equipment, and right now we can’t do that.”
And there are some smaller projects…
“…that I’d like to do, like making sure that all the old not-used public buildings that we have, are either demolished or finally sold. We’re down to just a few left and I’d like to wrap up that project.”
And, concerning the meals tax, Arrighi says…
“…the meals tax was such a wonderful accomplishment, having a dedicated revenue source, hopefully into perpetuity, that the town can reposition that funding for something else. My recommendation, would be, if I was still here, that it go strictly for town infrastructure. But we will await and see what the town decides to do with that. However, before I leave I would like to lift that sunset date that we have on establishing that fund.”
Melissa Arrighi will have served the town for 18 years by the time she leaves at the end of next July.
