Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz identified a Brockton man who was accused of shooting a Brockton police officer before fatally shooting himself.
The man was identified as 32-year-old Kevin Serpa, who resides at 62 Taber Avenue.
Around 5:45 last night, Brockton police received several 911 calls reporting a male with a firearm, and shots fired on Taber Ave.
Responding officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds, he was identified as 28-year-old Christopher Gomes of Brockton. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shots were fired from a second-floor window, and a Brockton police officer was struck several times. He was transported to Boston Medical Center for wounds that were not life-threatening. He has since been released by the hospital. Police Chief Manny Gomes identified the officer as Robert Otis, a recent graduate of the Boston Police Academy.
The State Police STOP team, and Crisis Negotiators responded to the scene, where Kevin Serpa was barricaded. They negotiated with him through the night, but around 9:30 p.m., he exited the house and shot himself outside.
Serpa was transported to the Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
State and Brockton Police continue to investigate the incident.
