The Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (SEMLEC) SWAT Team was called to a home in Bridgewater Wednesday afternoon.
Police Chief Christopher Delmonte says that plain clothes officers saw a subject wanted on firearms and other charges enter a house on Vernon St.
Delmonte says the subject was known to police to have a history of violent crimes, including previous unlawful possession of firearms charges from various jurisdictions.
Uniformed officers established a perimeter while detectives continued to gather intelligence and information and a search warrant was also issued for the address.
The SWAT team was requested due to the suspect’s violent past and nature of the outstanding arrest warrant, nearby streets were also temporarily detoured and a reverse-911 message was sent to neighboring residences.
Delmonte says after several attempts to contact the suspect they received new information that the subject was no longer there.
The detours were then removed and the area was cleared of police resources while a second reverse-911 was issued to nearby residents informing them of the same.
