There were no injuries after a fire on Adams Street in Abington.
Deputy Fire Chief Jack Glynn says a homeowner called to report smoke coming from the garage around 5:48 p.m.
Crews arrived on scene found heavy smoke coming from a detached two-car garage. The fire was knocked down in about 10 to 15 minutes.
“First crews went in, they forced entry into the garage. They advanced a line to the fire. Other crews forced entry to the garage doors to get those open as far as ventilation goes,” said Glynn. “The difficult part more than anything was after they had knocked it down, there was a separate attic area that had a lot of stuff stored above. Trying to make access through that ceiling, it’s a 1928 building I believe.”
There were no injuries at the scene. Mutual aid responded from Whitman and Rockland, a Norwell Ambulance stood by at the scene.
“The crews did a great job. They were very aggressive,” said Glynn. “They got in quickly on it, and made sure they protected any exposures that might be affected, to keep it away from the house.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but does not appear to be suspicious at this time.
