Taunton Mayor Withdraws Nomination for Former Marshfield Treasurer/Collector Patrick Dello Russo

Former Marshfield Treasurer/Collector Patrick Dello Russo was nominated as the Chief Financial Officer for the City of Taunton.

The Taunton Gazette reports that Mayor Shaunna O’Connell has withdrawn the appointment, citing potential “red flags,” including a personal bankruptcy in 2016.

Marshfield Town Administrator Michael Maresco said Dello Russo was placed on administrative leave in October for “personal reasons.” The Gazette reports that Dello Russo resigned citing differences with the Selectmen.

Maresco was quoted saying Dello Russo helped guide the town to a bond rating of AA+ and left the town in “good fiscal shape,” with $5.8 million dollars in free cash.

The town approved a $40 million debt exclusion for a senior center expansion, new DPW facility, and police station.

Dello Russo had served in the treasurer’s office in Hamilton and Haverhill.
