A Plymouth man is facing drug charges following a traffic stop in Carver.

Massachusetts State Police say that shortly after 11 p.m. on December 22, a Trooper on patrol on Tremont St. saw a black Chrysler 300 traveling at 70 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone.

The Trooper caught up to the vehicle and made a traffic stop.

While approaching the car, the Trooper said he was “inundated by marijuana smoke pouring out of the passenger side window.”

While speaking with the driver, 26-year-old Jakeem Finley, the Trooper said Finley started moving around in his seat and repeatedly reached for a blue bag on the passenger seat.

Finley was asked to place his hands on the steering wheel, but repeatedly took his hands off the steering wheel and began reaching into the pocket of his sweatshirt.

Finley was then handcuffed and removed from the vehicle and it was found that he had plastic baggies containing crack cocaine protruding from the coin pocket of his jeans.

He was also found to have two packages of marijuana, and an additional bag containing a “hard tan rocklike object in his possession.”

Finley was placed in the cruiser while a search of the vehicle uncovered packages of marijuana, a cup containing still-burning marijuana, a large amount of U.S. currency, and 3 cell phones.

He was also found to be in possession of two additional large bags of crack cocaine hidden on his person.

Finley also failed an assessment of his ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and was arraigned at Wareham District Court on charges of Operation Under The Influence Of Drugs – Marijuana; Trafficking Of A Class B Drug – Crack Cocaine; and Speeding.
