An East Bridgewater man is being held without bail after an arraignment on a murder charge at Wrentham District Court.
Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey says 47-year-old Brendon Owen pleaded not guilty to charges Friday.
Owen is accused of murdering his former wife, assaulting his mother-in-law, and setting fire to a Franklin home.
On Friday morning, police received a 9-1-1 call reporting a domestic assault at a neighbor’s home. Police arrived on scene and saw Owen inside the home. He ignored commands from police, and attempted to exit through a rear door. A taser was used, and he was put into custody.
Police entered the building and were met with smoke and fire in the home. They located Shirley Owen, and brought her outside. She showed signs of traumatic injury, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Brendon Owen pled not guilty to charges of Murder, Home Invasion, Kidnapping, and Arson.
He was ordered to be held without bail and is due back in court on January 19th for a probable cause hearing.
