Kingston Police were on the scene of two critical incidents in less than 12 hours. No serious injuries were reported, and a resident was arrested.
Around 1 p.m. yesterday, Sergeant Detective Michael Skowyra says police responded to reports of a suicidal male who potentially had a firearm. A perimeter was set up on the lower end of Main Street.
The male came out peacefully, with no weapons in his hand. The incident was resolved fairly quickly.
That night around 8 p.m., police responded to a rollover crash near 100 Summer Street, which is Route 3A. Mutual aid responded from nearby towns. An electric pole was snapped in the area, and the operator of the vehicle fled the scene.
A fight broke out, and a person had threatened to shoot another person.
21-year-old Colin Furtado, of Kingston, was arrested without further incident. He was not believed to be in the vehicle.
He was arraigned on charges that include Assault and Battery and Disorderly Conduct.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, but police have strong leads.
