There are some unexpected vacancies at the new Marshfield Veterans Home, creating an opportunity for eligible veterans to move in.
Carin Paulette, the Marshfield Veterans’ Agent, said there are guidelines for eligible residents. An application is available on the Marshfield town website, with a deadline to apply by January 28th.
“We are trying to let all of our veterans in town know, and the surrounding areas know of this fantastic opportunity to have their own apartment in this home, with some requirements,” said Paulette. “Obviously being homeless or on the verge of homelessness, but we ask that you take a minute and give us a call if you think you may be eligible. There are a lot of different versions of homelessness that people don’t understand.”
The Marshfield Veterans’ Services Office can be contacted at 781-834-5576.
Father Bill’s and MainSpring is in charge of selecting residents for the home, but people can contact the Marshfield Veterans Office for more information.
The gross income limit for working veterans is under $26,850.
“We know that there are veterans out there who are sleeping on sofas of friends and family. We’re here to reach out and help them,” said Lisa Potts, the Assistant Director of Veterans’ Services. “They need to give us a call so we can talk them through it and walk them through the application.”
