The FBI is issuing a nationwide alert in the case of Maura Murray, the Hanson native who has been missing since 2004, after a car crash in New Hampshire.
Maura’s sister, Julie, says they’ve been asking for assistance from the FBI since the start of the investigation.
“I got a call last week from the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office, sort of out of the blue. They told me that they were going to enter Maura into this FBI database, where they can track and correlate information across different agencies and jurisdictions,” said Julie Murray. “They didn’t indicate why now. I am hoping that’s because they have some new information. They didn’t share that with me. It also might be because they’ve exhausted all the available resources that they have.”
The family is planning a vigil for Maura on February 9th, the 18th anniversary of her disappearance.
A discovery of bones near the crash site in the loon mountain area was recently ruled out as belonging to Maura.
“My dad has been screaming for the FBI since very early on – 2006, 2007. Because the more resources, the better. In New Hampshire, particularly the small town of Haverhill, certainly did not have the resources required for this huge missing person case.”
