Three people are facing charges after an incident where a Marshfield Police Officer was attacked.

Marshfield Police say that at around 5:30 a.m. on January 7 they received a 911 call from 1829 Main St. which included screaming and crying in the background but nobody responded to the dispatcher.

Upon arrival officers were told that the residents were looking for their dog and that everything was fine.

However, they saw a resident with what appeared to be a head injury.

As a result officers entered the home to conduct a well-being check and found the missing dog in a bedroom.

During the search of the home they found an unconscious man on the bathroom floor bleeding heavily from a head wound.

They also found another man, 38-year-old Okeio Edwards of Providence, RI, hiding in a closet and he was taken into custody.

Police say one of the residents, 19-year-old Anna Halachis, becameargumentative, yelling and swearing at officers.”

She is also accused of spitting in an officer’s face then picking up a 20 lb. propane tank and swinging it at the officer.

Halachis was detained and taken to a hospital.

An investigation determined that 27-year-old Devin Chavis, a resident of the home, damaged one of the other resident’s vehicles with a baseball bat and assaulted them when they attempted to stop him.

Edwards then called 911, at which point, Chavis attacked him.

Police say Edwards was able to gain control of the bat and struck Chavis with it in self-defense.

Chavis was arrested and police say he screamed at the other involved parties not to talk to the police and also threatened Officers.

He was arraigned in Plymouth District Court on charges of Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon: To Wit Baseball Bat; Intimidation of Witness/Juror/Police/Court Official; and Assault and Battery.

His bail was revoked from a previous case and he is being held until February 8.

Halachis is facing charges of Assault and Battery on a Police Officer and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon To Wit: Propane Tank.

It was also determined that Edwards, a Level 3 Sex Offender, had been living at the address without registering with the Marshfield Police Department or the Sex Offender Registry Board.

He was arraigned on a charge of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and released on his own recognizance.
