In Plymouth, Town Manager Derek Brindisi, who served here as Assistant Town Manager from 2015 to 2017, says he’s glad to be back.

Town Manager Derek Brindisi:
“I loved Plymouth back then, but I just had an opportunity to serve as the Town Manager in Upton. But, I learned a lot over the last 5 years. I think I can use that new skill-set and new knowledge and apply that here in the Town of Plymouth.”
Brindisi recognizes that residents are concerned about taxes:
“It’s in every community, residents are always concerned about their taxes. There’s a lot of work that we can do around economic development, looking at other sources of revenue in order to help mitigate against rising taxes.”
Reports are that if the current budget is passed as it exists, the increase for the average taxpayer will be around $350, is this valid?
“I don’t want folks to be concerned that the number that’s out there in the community is going to be an actual number, because typically it’s less than what we’re projecting.”
So, we’ll know the actual number in the fall?
“Yes, so, this is one of the drawbacks of having Town Meeting so early is that we don’t have all of the information to give folks an exact figure. And so, everything we’re doing is projection—and a conservative projection, because the last thing we want to do is have to go back and then have to cut out of the budget.”
And there were about 40 applicants for the Assistant Town Manager’s position:
“We’ve made an offer to Mr. Brad Brothers. He’s actually the Business Manager, over at the School Department. And we’re hoping to have him on board coming in the 30th of April.
