In Plymouth, the County Commissioners, at their meeting on the 14th, vote to hold a public hearing next month concerning the Woodlot, a property of approximately 110 acres off Camelot Drive in Plymouth.
Boston South Development submitted a proposal to the county for an entertainment facility with horse racing a major attraction.
Bobbi Clark has more:
Commissioner Jared Valenzola:
“Massachusetts General Law, as well as our own laws that govern the County, compel us to be as open and transparent as possible, which we want to be. And we’re looking forward to hearing from folks, pro and con about Plymouth County.”
As agreed at this point, Boston South Development would have three years of due diligence to review the site, develop plans and address mitigation concerns with definitive plans. During that time, the County is schedule to receive a total of $450,000. And if the site is approved, future lease payments could be increased if more elements are added.
In another development, the Plymouth Select Board voted unanimously to place a non-binding question on the ballot for the town election asking residents if they support a project that includes thoroughbred horse racing on the County Woodlot.
Commissioner Valenzola:
“I think it’s important to emphasize that it would be non-binding so the results of that may or may not be relevant to the process that the County is engaged in with the developer, but again our communities are always free, as well as the developer to continue to engage the public as they deem necessary.”
The County’s public hearing concerning the woodlot is scheduled for May 9th at 6PM at the County offices on Obery Street.
