In Hingham, voters approved all articles on the warrant for the Annual Town Meeting, including borrowing $8 million dollars to rebuild the pool at the South Shore Country Club.
On the high school athletic field, the article had two-thirds of voters in support – 317 “yes” votes and 95 “no votes,” which was 77%. The project now needs approval as a ballot question during the May 14 election.
Voters approved $1.5 million dollars for pre-construction documents for a new public safety facility on Lincoln Street.
Fire Chief Steve Murphy says they started the process to replace the North Fire Station in 2015.
Police Chief David Jones says the police department and services have changed, but they do not have the space to serve the community.
The project is estimated to cost around $40 million dollars.
Voters approved an article for $3.1 million dollars for the Foster School Project. The project is estimated to cost $20 million dollars, and may include a grant from the Mass. School Building Authority.
Final amounts for the public safety complex and the Foster School are set to be on the warrant for a Fall Special Town Meeting.
The Hingham Annual Town Meeting concluded on Saturday.
