WATD hosted a political forum for the three candidates in the race for Marshfield Select Board.
Moderator Christine James was joined by reporter Charles Mathewson, and Marshfield Community Television Executive Director, Jonathan Grabowski, asking questions. Marshfield Community Television will provide video coverage.
Incumbent Chris Rohland, Lynne Fidler, and Joe Pecevich are running for one open seat.
The candidates were asked about a proposal to expand a parking area across from the Marshfield Harbor Park, something that was a frequent question sent to WATD.
Rohland says the proposal is on hold by Harbormaster Mike DiMeo, but it could return.
Pecevich took issue with the hearing process. He says he’s been advocating for safe use of the area since 2004.
Rohland said the only seats available were at the front of the room.
Fidler, as the chair of the Zoning Board, said the application was not complete, which happens occasionally.
In the second part of the question: the candidates were asked what they thought should be done at the location.
Rohland’s response:
Pecevich opposes the plan.
Fidler’s response:
The candidates were asked by Moderator Christine James what difference they would make to the typical resident or voter if they were elected.
Fidler says if she was elected, she would bring another perspective as a woman.
Pecevich says he would be an advocate for the people.
Rohland says if he’s re-elected, residents would get more of the same strong leadership.
