The Plymouth Select Board voted unanimously to place a non-binding question on the ballot for the town election.
The question will ask residents if they support a project that includes thoroughbred horse racing on the County Wood Lot.
Boston South Real Estate and Development submitted a proposal to the Plymouth County Commissioners for an entertainment facility that would be anchored by horse racing.
Select Board Chair Richard Quintal spoke with WATD after the meeting.
Board members Charlie Bletzer, Betty Cavacco, and Quintal took issue with “misinformation” on social media.
Bletzer was concerned with infrastructure in the area, and said he would not vote for any proposal the residents did not support. He said it’s the start of the process, and said the board has to be open-minded about commercial projects.
Cavacco expressed frustration with comments on social media, and challenged people to put their name on the ballot and join the board.
Select Board Chair Richard Quintal:
The developers for the project are planning to hold a public outreach meeting on April 26th from 6 to 9 p.m. at Plymouth Memorial Hall.
The Plymouth Town Election is May 21st.
