After 47 years with the Plymouth Fire Department, a retirement ceremony was held for Fire Chief Ed Bradley.
He has served as chief since December of 2007, and joined the department as a call firefighter at the Manomet station in 1974.
It’s a job he says he’s loved since the very first day.
Due to state law, he was initially set to retire in 2020 due to reaching the age of 65. Thorough special legislation, he was able to oversee the opening of the new North Plymouth Fire Station, and establish a clear succession plan.
He said his firefighters made the job easier.
As part of the change of command ceremony, Jarome Hart was promoted to Deputy Chief.
Neil Foley was promoted to Chief of the Plymouth Fire Department. It was an emotional ceremony, but the 1820 Courthouse was packed with supporters and members from the department.
Foley joined the department in 2006, after serving five years with the Hingham Fire Department. He says there is a bright future ahead after Bradley helped set the foundation.
