Two people pleaded guilty for their role in an arson fire that destroyed JJ’s Pub in Hanson.
Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz says 63-year-old Patricia Harrison and 52-year-old Wayne Cummings pleaded guilty in Plymouth Superior Court.
Both are from Buzzards Bay, and the pair was sentenced to probation for two years.
In 2018, two Hanson firefighters were injured battling the three-alarm fire at the former pub. The building was a total loss. An investigation found the fire was intentionally set.
Harrison was the owner of the property, and Cummings was a friend of Harrison’s. After the fire, she filed a $415,000 dollar claim with her insurance provider.
As a result of the investigation, Hanson police obtained a criminal complaint charging 79-year-old Alfred Russo, of Bourne, with Burning a Dwelling and Arson (Causing Injuries to a firefighter).
He was a former Boston Firefighter from 1969 to 1995.
Prosecutors allege Harrison and Cummings enlisted Russo’s aid to set fire to the pub. Russo was given a key to the restaurant, and is accused of using a blow torch and a rubber tire to start the blaze.
He is scheduled to go on trial on the charges on April 11th.
